Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Applies clay to armatures Sets templates to clay Takes dimensions from model with accurate measurements Puts dimensional information on model for checking or duplication Uses clay modeling equipment Creates 3-D clay or digital models Creates new and improves existing clay models using templates, points and other data provided by a supervisor or designated leader Produces finished model to specifications Frequently assists studio personnel in developing solutions to engineering and design problems Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and / or project Coordinates input from internal / external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
Required Skills/Experience: Ability to work independently and with others in a creative team environment Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to create finished three-dimensional models Excellent understanding and abilities in surface, form and line development Ability to read engineering drawings Demonstrated technical and creative skills supported by review of portfolio presentation Ability to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals Automotive experience is preferred
Required Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent training, plus additional training such as that acquired in the first two years of fine arts school with emphasis on sculpting
Areas of Expertise: 3D Models Form and Line Development Surfacing
Technical Skills: Ability to Read Engineering Drawings
Soft Skills: Ability to Work with Others Oral and Written Communication Skills
